What Adele & Oprah Showed Me

22/06/2022

Ever get caught up feeling how your everyday emotions could be stopping you from fulfilling your potential?

Ever wondered what truly makes you happy?

Have you found your self-talk telling you, you can only be successful once you get your s*%t together?

Well, I know how you feel because I think we can all fall into this trap sometimes, and I have some insight into what to do about it.

I love how witnessing someone else in their gifts, or genius not only gives me goosebumps and brings happy tears to my eyes, it also shows me the truth of what we all find most inspiring.

Are we most in awe of another when we knew it came easy to them? No, not really.

We are most in admiration of another when we learn what they overcame to be the success we see in them today.

Take Adele, for example, a very talented singer who sells millions of records around the world.

Imagine if Adele didn’t ever feel sadness, hurt, loss, be criticised and so on. What then would she write in her songs?

Would they evoke emotions for the listener from our universal experiences as they do now?

Her music would be completely different and perhaps wouldn’t be the contribution she makes to the music industry and our hearts today.

You don’t even have to like her music to resonate with what I’m saying.

You can know what I mean because it is in Adele’s unique expression that she contributes to the world.

It is only when we allow ourselves to understand our emotions and be in our darkness that we can notice our light.

If there were only light, we would have no darkness, which is not our reality of being human.

Watching Oprah interview Adele in her special “One Night Only”, it is in Adele’s vulnerability to share her emotional journey, which is truly inspiring.

Adele creates from the place of all her emotions.

As a result, she contributes her gifts and genius to the world regardless of what she goes through.

“I’m really not happy, I’m not living, I’m just plodding along. I want to live and not just survive” – Adele.

Even the most successful of people go through every emotion you and I go through.

So how do we work through all the emotions we can have and still find our authentic version of success, love and happiness for ourselves?

I believe it is to know our unique gifts, which is our genius, and to find ways to share them with the world.

I know it is when we love ourselves enough to honour our feelings, become aware of how and why we have come to feel this way and then be willing and responsive to taking action in our world, showing up to help others with our gifts.

Your gift could be understanding people in a particular way, so you find ways to be a voice for them and to help them live their best lives.

Your gift could be having deep compassion and empathy, so you find ways to listen to people who need to be heard, and you change their world in doing so.

Your gift could be having keen insight into higher potentials so you create structures and processes that allow that potential to flourish.

Our gifts can be both seen and unseen. Tangible and intangible. In our doing and also in our being.

We all have a genius and gifts to share in just being who we are.

What do we allow to get in our way, stopping us from our potential and capacity to feel love, success and happiness?

Adele later shares how she now feels after her divorce, taking action in doing what brings her happiness (lifting weights and movement are some examples aside from her singing) and healing her little girl around the hurt relationship she had with her father.

She says, “This is the first time I have loved myself, been open to being loving and being loved by someone else.”

Oprah replies, “Love yourself first, and everything will come after that”.

So what is self-love anyway?

And again, what do we allow to get in our way, stopping us from our potential and capacity to feel love, success and happiness?

I have written 35,000 words and counting on this topic of self-love, which will become my book, published in 2022, and I am so passionate about sharing with others how there are 8 Principles when it comes to true self-love.

There are also eight sabotages we do inside of these Principles. There is a dark side and a light side to each.

For example, the eighth and final Principle is all about how we take action in our world.

In the dark, it can play out as being busy on the wrong things, becoming a workaholic or fixated on always keeping busy.

Busyness on the wrong things can be escaping and creating coping mechanisms, moving us away from what is most important to us.

When in the light, we can be clear on what result we are yearning for and know what action to take.

I go in-depth into each of these Principles and how we can attain more profound Self Love in my half-day masterclass, free online event called The 8 Principles of Self-Love for Success, Love & Manifestation.

I show you the simplicity of each Principle whilst it holds the complexity of how we can experience it.

Each Principle has a secret to quickly implement and step more into the light of our potential.

I would be truly honoured to hold this space for you, to see you and share this life-changing information with you at my next half-day masterclass.
